Help! I’ve been shot!2 o'clock, January 10, 2006The Four Things finally cornered me, thanks to Rob. But like good old Artie Schopenhauer says: If you observe that your opponent has taken up a line of argument which will end in your defeat, you must not allow him to carry it to its conclusion, but interrupt the course of the dispute in time, or break it off altogether, or lead him away from the subject, and bring him to others. So I’m making up my own questions.

How much of historic Samarkand is still there? I have this subtle fear that if I did go there, i'd be disappointed by its modernity. |

I stopped visiting Locus Online when I started to find that everything I would have gotten from it I was getting from the blogosphere first. From what I can find on the web it would appear that a lot of historic Samarkand is still there. Of course a lot of Soviet Samarkand is also still there. |

I left a Toblerone bar in the car one day in July, and ate it when I got back. Such a mess. Such a glorious, glorious mess. (Congrats re: Rio Hondo!) |

Yeah, in the car they're much less likely to catch fire. |

Well, that's always a danger in formerly Soviet places; the Soviets had the worst sense of architecture of any major civilization in history. :( |
Why have you stopped visiting locusmag.com? Their feed isn't working properly for me, but that's my only reason...
Yay for Sting/Police comment, haha! I used to be such a fankid, and still have a soft spot (but FUCK anything later than that first Sting album), yet I also don't need to hear any of that again.
