Not in and of themselves. But combined with the cost of two wars and the creation of a whole new megolithic Federal department, yeah...they do.

I think the tax cuts were a dumb idea at this time. You don't massively increase spending and cut taxes. You cut taxes in times of fat.

I personally think the Dems should be hammering on this particular point, rather than trying to sell the whole "Bush duped us on the war". Nobody's buying it, but hammering him on his sloppy economic policy would resonate with most Americans.

Plus a major recession and corresponding drop in base tax revenues, don’t forget.
