For what it’s worth, Borges’ Library of Babel contains only 101,823,342 unique books, exclusive of those in the Crimson Hexagon.

Oh, but a 3-D rendering of it is just plain wrong.

Especially if they're not even going to bother with texture maps or proper lighting.

No, no, that's not a 3D rendering, that's an actual photograph.

Wow, there's a link at the bottom of that Library page to Dominus's Universe of Discourse. Takes me back to the good old days, it does. That "someone else's not-too-clear description of the Glasperlenspiel" that Dominus mentions? The "someone else" was me, and I still haven't read Magister Ludi.

Y'know, in case y'all were wondering.

Btw, David, I like the "FORGET PERSONAL INFORMATION" button at the bottom of your enter-a-comment form, but it's not clear to me: is that to make me forget my own personal info, or to make me forget other people's?

(Can you tell I'm a little punchy this morning?)

Nice pic. I wonder which floor the reference desk is on?

—— Jon, 12:05 PM, Wednesday, April 9, 2003

Generations of men have lived and died searching for the reference desk, but none has yet found it.
