Posting from the shell-shock ward

5 o'clock, September 7, 2003

Unless some total bastard (and I will hunt you down) is forging email from Gardner Dozois, I’ve just sold “The Third Party” — twelve-thousand-word novelette, prelude to the Space Opera / Planetary Romance (op. cit.) — to Asimov’s.

On Greg’s advice, I am now going to get blissfully drunk.

(Thanks to Greg and Jay and Lara and everyone else who helped me out with this one.)

Can I ride your coat tails? It was just like yesterday that I made my own first sale to Asimov's.

Well done!

—— paul melko, 10:58 PM, Sunday, September 7, 2003

—— Vera Nazarian, 3:21 AM, Monday, September 8, 2003

I whistle admiringly as you walk by (you, of course, keep walking, since the little people are beneath your notice now).

:-)

—— Mary Anne, 4:33 AM, Monday, September 8, 2003

YAY!!! That's wonderful news.

—— Jason Erik Lundberg, 9:00 AM, Monday, September 8, 2003

So, now it's Monday, a day later, and you've still sold a story to Asimov's. How cool is that?

—— Greg van Eekhout, 9:10 AM, Monday, September 8, 2003

Big ups to you, pal. Fantastic news.

—— Christopher, 9:19 AM, Monday, September 8, 2003

—— Jed, 11:19 AM, Monday, September 8, 2003

Thanks, everybody. I’m overwhelmed.

And Mary Anne, the only reason I’d walk by a pretty woman’s admiring whistle would be the automatic assumption that it was someone else she was whistling at. :)

—— David Moles, 3:29 PM, Monday, September 8, 2003

Yay, yay, yay!

Great news!

—— Gwenda B., 3:29 PM, Monday, September 8, 2003

YAY!

*doing the happy dance*

Congrats! I'm looking forward to reading it.

Everyone can do the happy dance.

(Me, I’m concentrating on learning the bitches dance.)
